Sun and smoothie

Lots of sun today!!! WOHOOOO!! The sun is like a nutrient - an essential nutrient. We just NEED it.

Misty and cloudy in the morning.... but then, the sun came up!

And today - felt like using all the kale (grönkål) I found in the shop the other day. So, first of all - yes, you guessed it - green smoothie. Today, think I just had some bananas and maybe an apple + some kale =

Real nice. And then - just because I felt like it - some chocolate pudding! The million dollar question is: how do you take a nice photo of chocolate pudding???? This phot didn´t turn out very nice anyway.... but I promise, banana, avocado, cacao and carob = heaven.

Then, put some of my kale in a salad. Gave it a good massage with sea salt and olive oil first - but, I don´t know.... I´m not a big fan of kale salads..... it´s nice in smoothies... but, salads.... I don´t know. I did enjoy the savoy cabbage though. Just like the kale, savoy belongs in the Brassica oleracea family - so, they are closely related, but the taste is a bit different. But, both are super hero foods - with lots of antioxidants...

...throw some algeas, apple, tomato and spinach in.... And dressed it up with some dijon mustard! A nice lunch.

Now - evening.... and it looks like the rain is back. Well, we got one sunny day - made me happy.

Have a nice weekend! /A

Green smoothie revisited :)

Am I boring?? Is it much fun seeing photo after photo with green smoothies?... Well, I´m sorry, but it´s just what I live on right now - green smoothies! Simple, delicious, quick, satisfying.... and just the best. Today, I put 2 bananas, 1/2 pineapple and a few large leaves of kale (grönkål) in the blender:

This smoothie would probably be real good as a juice too, without the bananas.

So good. And, not too sweet, probably because of the powerful taste of kale.

But, the best thing of all today: NO RAIN! :) So exciting to see the sun. It´s getting real cold though. Perfect time to start using more kale. Hmm, maybe I´ll put together a cabbage salad tonight.... will be nice.

Have a happy Thursday! /A

Green green smoothies

Green green smoothies :) ....just love them. Right now, I´m pretty much living on green smoothies, energy soups and a bit of fruit. And the combination apple, nectarine, clementine, spinach and water = success:

Came home and made green smoothies for dinner, breakfast and lunch tomorrow. So easy. And when you´r working and its raining and you come home late.... it´s just the most easiest thing ever to put together, and it tastes SO good.
My lunch soup for tomorrow: zucchini, tomatoes, avocado, apple, spinach, nutritional yeast, tamari, dried cilantro (koriander)...and water. Mix it up! Beautiful soup - but yeah, missing the sprouts.... :( And the dulse.....Not even any alfa-alfas to buy in the shops.... Anyway, spinach is ok.

Now - will try to get warm, and the hop into bed. Have a nice Thursday to you all! /A

Seriously green strawberry smoothie

Serious - this green smoothie tasted JUST LIKE strawberries. Just like a strawberry smoothie!! So funny. Ingredients (just sort of left overs):
  • 1 ripe nectarine
  • 1 Norwegian apple
  • 1 large clementine
  • 1 large bunch green baby spinach

Mix it up and SMELL - I couldn´t believe it! It smelled like a real strawberry treat!!! Have to try it again and see if it can be repeated. Try it you too and report!

C u soon. /A

Monday energy soup :)

New week - and right now, no rain! Started this morning with a savory green smoothie/energy soup! Sometimes you just don´t have a sweet tooth in the morning - so, what could be better then a savory smoothie?! Inspired by Ann Wigmore, I threw in the blender:
  • 1 apple
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 avocado
  • 5 leaves romaine lettuce
  • a dash of tamari
  • teasp of nutritional yeast
  • koriander
  • about a cup of water
...Mix it - and enjoy! -either as a soup or a smoothie, depending on amount of water added.

Now, some food from the weekend. Made a plate with Indian cauliflower scramble and mixed greens. Also tried to make some coconut cream..... in my crappy blender.... You basically just mix coconut meat with water - til it turns into fluffy cream. Well, my cream looked nice, but the taste.... wasn´t the best. Anyway, if you have a Vita-Mix, or Blendtec, try it out!

Make your own chocolate sauce, throw some fruit in there and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top! Voilá!

Hope you have a beautiful Monday! And - Marketa, have a look on the right side for boghvede :)

Chocolate and rain

My birthday! Thank you folks for all birthday wishes :) Hope you all get a beautiful weekend! Here in Bergen............ CHOCOLATE CAKE!!

My search for ripe avocados did turn out rewarding... This cake is based on a walnut-date crust, with banana-date-avocado-chocolate frosting.... AND clementines - with a HINT of orange essential oil.

Turned out really yummy... and filling. Dont do very well on dates and nuts these days.... so I feel all speedy after a piece of this. Think Ill be heading for a soup tonight - have to use up all avos we´ve been buying!

Anyway, here in Begen - you know the story - just rain. Rain, rain and a bit more rain. Talked to Sweden today - they had a warm Indian summer sun over there........

Birthday present:

RECOMMENDED reading! Just need to get some wheat pearls and start growing these amazing greens.

Enjoy the weekend!

Breakfast for two today :) Got my love here this weekend! Had some buckwheat porridge with celery, banana and a couple of dates:

...with some chopped fresh figs on top.

For lunch - some leftover pizza crust, quickly topped with banana and curry, for favorite pizza - banana pizza...

...And, a cobbler for dessert - now using leftover almond pulp, mixed with dates and carob! Put this between a layer of apple and kiwi - and don´t forget about the cinnamon:

All food tasted absolutely beautiful. The weather on the other hand - not so very beautiful... This was the ray of light we saw this morning...

Have a beautiful day :) /A

Afternoon tea...

Today, my afternoon smoothie included lots of celery, 1 banana, 2 larger clementines and... ONE drop of mandarin essential oil! Turn out really yummy:

...because of my crappy blender, I had to really chew it though...

That might be all for today. Stocking up on avocados for my birthday chocolate cake Ill be making for coming Friday.... you never know your luck in a big town - certainly not when it comes to finding ripe avos!

For now - have a beaut day! /A

Pizza for dinner....

Yep, actually had some pizza for dinner.... home made pizza. But, it would be hard finding a healthier kind of pizza! This one had a buckwheat-sunflower seed crust, topped with sun dried tomato sauce, avocado, organic cucumber, organic olives.... and topped with lovely spinach and a sprinkle of "nutritional yeast-cheese". And soooo good.... just, so good.

Sorry for the blurry photos though...

Well, that´s not all Ive been eating today... but, its just too dark in the morning to take nice photos of my green morning smoothie. Can tell you though what I´m planning for dessert: orange juice marinated figs with a zing of ginger... mmmmmm...

And... yes, it´s still rainin... it never stopped. So, tonight - yoga will be held inside.

Hope you all had a beaut Tuesday! /A

Work, rain and.... not-any-meat-here-at-all-balls!

Came home hungry today - thinkin bout all my lovely buckwheat sprouting at home. So, some quick porridge: banana, buckwheat, 1 date, cinnamon.... pinch of sea salt... and, some sprinkle of nectarine:

...turned out really nice :)

And then, because of all the rain, I felt like something - more hearty! So, I found some leftover sunflower seeds and some walnuts, all in all about a cup, and mixed with all kinds of nice spices, apple cider vinegar, tamari, garlic.... and voilá! Not-any-meat-here-at-all-balls! Or, sunflower balls.

...served with marinara sauce and zucchini spaghetti.... mmmm. Im still really full, but I think I might make some chocolate pudding as well tonight. Have to try a new idé. We´ll see if it turns out nice.

Hope everyone out there had a real good day, mine was! C u /A

Salad and chocolate, pudding and rain

Just posting my lovely lunch salad :) made with red and white cabbage, spinach, carrot... and a bunch of other stuff:
...and a lot of lemon juice on top!

A phot from the beautiful city of Bergen...
...where it always, and I mean always, rains. It just does! Always! Always.

Did some nice paté with a beet, organic beet. Ingredients: beet, avocado, dijon mustard, salt ´n pepper, nutritional yeast.... and some water. Got real creamy, good to put on a cracker, or as a topping. I sprinkled some arame on top.

Not a very nice photo though... sorry for that!

And then.... some pudding! A variation on Ani Phyos´ tiramisu: bananas, buckwheat (sprouted), pinch of coconut, salt, vanilla seads. Sprinkled on top: cacao combined with cinnamon...mmmm

One day Ill make the whole tiramisu.... The recepie calls for cashews, but, I just dont feel like eating to many nuts, AND, I was planning on having a nice cup of warm chocolate this evening:

Well, one cup.... or three....... which I´m now desperately trying to digest.... I always eat too much.... even as a "high raw foodist"...

Now - sunday is evening and the rain is back in town... I´m happy inside.

Sunday-green-simple-smoothie :) ...that will put a smile on your face!
  • 1 banana
  • 1 small apple
  • 1 nectarine
  • 1 bunch of salad (hjertesalat)
  • 2 cups water
  • ...mix it up in the blender!

Became a real thick smoothie... yummy..... I´m really into puddings and ice creams and stuff at the moment. So, I´m almost eating my smoothies with a spoon! The only difference between a smoothie and a pudding: the amount of water you put in!

Here´s a phot of my chocolate pudding I had yesterday:
Don´t think phots of chocolate pudding look very attractive.... just looks so.... brown! But, it tastes absolutely wonderful. For this pudding, I put equal amounts cacao and carob in. Now, carob is not a raw food. It´s a ground up pod, that tastes very malty, reminds about cacao. But, it´s no super food, like cacao. It does contain alot of calcium from what I understand, and no caffein. The combination cacao-carob is very yummy...

Ok, all for now! Hope ur sunday is nice :)

My green smoothie this morning.... turned out pink! -celery, banana and strawberries =

...sorry for blurry photo.

Looks pretty nice, and tasted fantastic!

A bit of rain today, but no worries, the sun will come back, it always does. Have a beaut saturday!

Warm chocolate, no rain and strawberrie smoothie!

Hey! No rain today - yet! But, starting to get real cold here. Today I´m doing an afternoon shift, so, I have time for an elixir-hot-chocolate in the morning!
Procedure:
  1. Make about 3 cups - 1 liter of herbal tea, I had some Horse tail (Equesitum arvense)
  2. Mix about 1 cup (2,5 dl) soaked and rinsed almonds with the tea
  3. Strain and put the milk back into blender
  4. Blend with: equal amounts cacao and carob (about 2 tsp each), 1 banana, 1 1/2 tsp (about) cinnamon and 1 tsp cardamom. Put some maca in there if you have.
  5. Blend.
  6. Enjoy straight from blender - or, warm in a saucepan til luke warm.
....pretty blurry photo....

...but here you can see the lovely froth on top of the warm chocolate...mmmmm

And, talking bout almond milk based smoothies.... made some strawberry smoothie the other day! So extremely nice.... Just start with your nut milk - you might or might not want to make it out of a tea, its up to you. I just had water. Blend your nut milk with 1 banana, a lot of strawberries and 1 date. Result:

...so delicious!!

...and, talking about delicious - bought the most perfect mango yesterday!! - had to turn it into pudding. Mixed it with 1 1/2 banana and some celery, maybe a bit too much celery.... but, it turn out nice:

My biggest problem right now - is that I dont have a Blendtec to make my puddings in :( so, this one didnt have the perfect smooth structure....

Have a beaut day! Love to A + M. /A

15 september 2009

Had an awsome green smoothie this morning: 1 banana, 1 nectarine, 1 apple, 2 stalks celery, water.... and.... no, that was it. Result:

Really refreshing taste.

And then, just had to use up my soaked almonds - and turn them into tunapaté! No no, no tuna here! -But, first time I tasted this paté, first thing that came to my mind was: Tuna! So, its perfect to put in raw sushi, or just anywhere a paté would come to use. I made mini-pizzas today. Cucumber pizza. Couldnt be more easy. Just slice up thick slices of cucumber, and there you have the pizza crust!
Ingredients for paté:
  • 4-5 carrots
  • bout 1 cup soaked and rinsed almonds (2 dl)
  • 1 tablesp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablesp tamari
  • 1 tablesp olive- or rapeseed oil
  • 1 teasp thyme
  • 1 teasp dill
  • 1 teasp cilantro (ok, fresh is best, but I used dry) - koriander
  • some garlic powder
  • sprincle of salt and peppar
Mix it all in the food processor, until nice paté concistency. Result:

SO GOOD. So yummy. Just try it.
Assembling the pizzas: some slices of red union, chopped olives and a dollop of paté:

And the combination of things were just amazingly good!!

Overcast here, but not raining! :) Have a beaut day! /A

Sun, green smoothie and wild edibles!

Monday and sunny!!! SO amazing to see the sun!!! Makes such a difference.

This morning - had to finish off my spinach. So, made a simple green smoothie. Spinach, 1 banana, 1 nectarine, 1 apple and juice from 1 orange... and some water. Makes:

...beautiful smoothie. By not adding too many bananas, it didn´t get too sweet.... which was nice.

Went out in the sun...

... just sat for a while in the beautiful sun :)
And then, for lunch: soup! But, todays challenge, the day before payday, is to use whatever is in the fridge. AND find some greens - for free!! I found some beautiful rose leaves (Rosa family). So, my soup consisted of:
  • a handful of rose leaves
  • 1 apple
  • small slice of ginger
  • 1/4 cucumber
  • 1 avocado
  • some lemon juice
  • sprinkle of sea salt and arame

...and it turned out like this:

So good and a real smooth taste! Really gentle taste. Had a sprinkle of cayenne on top :) ...and cheap...

Now, the sun is here, calling for attention. Have a beaut day! /A
